Class Descriptions
Level 1 Class Description:
AKC STAR Puppy 1:
6 Week class for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months. This class includes puppy play time, socialization, working on sit, down, stay, come, leave it, drop it, leash walking and some fun tricks! The starting place to have a well-rounded confident puppy!
Foundations 1:
If you have a dog over 6 months old with no previous training/no group class experience this 6-week foundation class is for you! In this class we will review and teach the basics to get you and your dog on your way to success. Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Loose Leash Walking, Leave-it and drop it are all covered in this class. Follow this class with Foundation 2: Canine Good Citizen Class for your next level of training.
Level 2 Class Description
Puppy 2: Rising STARS: 6-week class. Puppies must have attended Puppy 1 and be 4 months-12 months of age. Puppy 2 is a continuation of the skills learned in Puppy 1. Dogs are older by this point, and their behaviors are developing and changing. This class is designed to help guide your dog through their transition from a puppy into a teenager. Class is focused on building on the skills taught in Puppy 1, adding outings and instilling confidence in you and your dog.
Tenacious Dogs: 6 Week Class. Focus and Impulse control is a big part of this class. This class is for Dogs 6 months and up. This group lass is designed to help you with loose leash walking, recall, teaching your dog to relax, stay in place and focus on YOU. A great follow up class after puppy class, foundation behaviors or before Canine Good Citizen.
Foundations 2: Canine Good Citizen: 6-week class for dogs 6 months and up. Follow up for foundations class or dogs that have “some” training. In this class test your sit, down, recall and stay at long distances, separation anxiety issues, reaction to other dogs, greeting strangers, loose leash walking. Once you finish this class take the CGC test and earn your Canine Good Citizen title! Test is done without treats.
Intro to Rally: What is Rally Obedience? In this class we will work through the rules, guidelines, novice signs and navigating a novice course. We will practice different courses throughout class as well as one off signs. Work on heel cue, fronts, sits, and navigating your dog around your body. Rally is a fun sport that you can choose to compete in OR just practice having fun with your dog!
Tricks 1: Building Relationships Through Tricks: 6-week class. Dogs love to play and have fun, you can increase your recall, stay, attention and reactive issues by giving your dog something to do INSTEAD of the undesired behavior they are doing. What we will cover: Class covers AKC Novice and Intermediate Tricks.
AKC Canine Fitness Level 1 & 2: 6-week class. Work through fitness exercises to earn your AKC Fit Dog Title and increase your dog’s muscle tone and fitness.
Level 3 Class Description
Intro to Scent work: 6-week class for dogs 6 months and up. An introduction to the sport of Scent Work. This class uses food to build a dog’s search drive. Handers will work on learning to read their dogs’ changes of behavior and alert signals. This class will focus on the scent of “birch” as a novice scent.
Hounds Around Town CGCA/CGCU: 4-week class. Advanced behaviors Canine Good Citizen Advanced and Canine Good Citizen Urban. This class is taught at various dog friendly locations around town such as stores and food establishments. Loose leash walking, sit, down, stay at long distracted distances, recall at long distracted distances, reaction to distractions, behaviors near other dogs. Appropriate stranger greets. This class is designed to help you take your dog on adventures.
Brain Games: 6-week class. Creating a positive learning environment is important for your dogs success and shows that learning doesn’t have to be boring! In this class we will pay a multitude of “brain games” to help strengthen your partnership, increase focus and impulse control, provide mental stimulation and FUN for you and your dog. Test your partnership and be prepared to laugh and enjoy your dog from start to finish of class. Prerequisites: Dogs must have a foundation of skills: sit, down, stay, come, look, touch.
Scent work level 2: 6-week class. Continue your scent work journey, this class will introduce the scents of Anise and Clove. Hides will be more difficult, and distractions will increase. Take this class to be ready for your next scent work trial!
Performance Pros: Advanced Tricks: 6-week class. advanced trick dog class where dogs will have the opportunity to earn their advanced and performer trick dog title. Prerequisite: Building Relationships through tricks OR novice/Intermediate trick title. This class may not be suitable for Dog/People Reactive dogs.
Rally 2 Advanced Coursework: 6-week class. Rally 2 moves beyond the Novice signs into Intermediate & Advanced. Learn your new signs, clean up your heel and prepare to remove your leash. Build your connection and do the dance of RALLY! Prerequisite: Into to Rally.
Drop in Options:
Puppies in Public: Take your training on the road, practicing your skills in public dog friendly locations.
City Dogs: Drop in for dogs who are over 6 months and ready to work around distractions in public dog friendly places.
Rally Drop in: Novice-Adv coursework, fun time to work on basic obedience. Must have taken intro to rally or done rally at another facility.
Scentwork drop in: Must have taken Scentwork 1 or done Scentwork at another facility hides will be novice to advanced.
